Question 1

What's included in the Death Notice Package?

Accepted Answer

Your subscription gives you access to publishing notices on the registry, a memorial page with customization options, tribute messages from your loved ones, and the ability to share the obituary. Newspaper placement in a regional daily is a separate service, paid at publication.

Question 2

When will the notice appear in the newspaper?

Accepted Answer

Each newspaper has its own deadline. The deadline for your chosen publication is shown on its information page at the 'Publication medium' step, before payment. Once we've sent your notice to the newspaper, you'll be notified of the publication date.

Question 3

How can I edit a published notice?

Accepted Answer

On the registry, you can edit your notice and memorial page anytime from your account. For newspaper placement, edits are only possible before the notice is sent to the newspaper: contact us right away and we'll see what we can do with the publication.

Question 4

How are tribute messages from loved ones moderated?

Accepted Answer

Candles and flowers appear immediately. Written messages are reviewed before publication: you approve them from your account, and you can remove any message at any time.

Question 5

What happens to the memorial page if my subscription ends?

Accepted Answer

A notice that appeared in the newspaper stays published, and the registry notice remains viewable. The terms for access to your memorial page after your subscription ends are detailed in your subscription agreement. If you're unsure, contact us before canceling.

Question 6

How do I cancel my subscription?

Accepted Answer

From your account, under 'Manage my subscription'. There's no minimum commitment, no phone call or letter needed: your cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.

Question 7

Can I publish only on the registry, without newspaper placement?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Newspaper placement is optional: you can publish your notice on the registry alone with a memorial page, and add newspaper placement later if you wish.

Question 8

How much does newspaper placement cost?

Accepted Answer

The price depends on the newspaper, department, and the number of lines in your notice. It's calculated and shown in the summary, including all taxes, before payment: nothing is charged without showing you the amount first.

Question 9

Who can publish a death notice?

Accepted Answer

The family, a loved one, or a funeral home assisting them. We ask that you be able to verify your relationship with the deceased: if a notice is published in error, we'll remove it at the family's request.

Question 10

Can I include the ceremony date and location?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The date, time, and location appear on your notice and memorial page, and can be updated if plans change. You can share the memorial page link by email or message as an obituary.
